MASTER CLASS: FROM DELTA TO ELECTRIC BLUES GUITAR
This interactive workshop will be conducted in a call-and-response format where participants will have the opportunity to learn techniques and styles that demonstrate the evolution of blues guitar over the last century as the guitar evolved from being primarily an accompaniment of rhythm to being a lead instrument in a band environment.
This hands-on workshop will start out by covering bass lines, chords and single note embellishments in the styles of Robert Johnson, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Elmore Jones, and progress through to making the guitar a lead instrument, bending notes, vibrato and emulating the human voice starting with T. Bone Walker and then hailing to Kings: B.B. & Albert.
What to Bring: An acoustic or electric guitar and small amp, along with intermediate to advanced experience. Participants are also welcome to bring a recording device, such as an iPhone or iPad to record for later review.
