This course will prepare the student for entry level nursing assistants to achieve a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to provide basic care to resident’s rights, communication, safety, observation, reporting and assisting residents in maintaining basic comfort and safety. The emphasis of this course is on effective interaction with members of the health care team. Clinical is a basic type of health professions work-based instruction that helps student synthesize new knowledge, apply previous knowledge, or gained experience managing workflow. Practical experience is simultaneously related to theory. Close and/or direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional (faculty or preceptor), generally in a clinical setting. Clinical education is an unpaid learning experience. State of Texas Exam in skills and written competency will be scheduled once program is complete. No High School or GED required. Tuition includes Liability Insurance and State of Texas testing fees. Location for classes and clinical: Manor Park Nursing Facility 2208 N Loop 250 W, Midland (432-699-3401) and the Advanced Technology Center 3200 W Cuthbert Rm HS2. This is a direct patient contact course. Required Textbook: Hartman’s Nursing Assistant Care Basics 3rd Ed. 11.4 CEU’s

  • Immunizations (Tetanus, MMR, Varicella, Hep B series, or waiver from health department) updated
  • CPR Certification
  • Required uniform: set of scrubs (hunter green), watch with second hand, non-marking running shoes
  • Text and packet required and available at the MC Bookstore
