MASSAGE THERAPY

 

Massage Therapy can be a rewarding career with flexibility to work in settings such as medical offices, sports clinics, day spas, and resort spas or a home businesses. Our Massage Therapy Program provides over 500 hours of classroom instruction, clinicals and internship. The program is three semesters (Fall/Spring/Summer) with classes held in the evenings (T, W, TH) and most Saturdays. The goal if the program is to develop the skills and knowledge of Massage Therapy to enable the passing of the certification exam, MBLEx, and obtain state license.

You are invited to attend an informational meeting hosted by HSCE August 22, 2017 5:00pm to 7:00pm.  This meeting will be held at the Advanced Technology Center 3200 W Cuthbert room 138.

 

Registration packets will be available to begin your Enrollment process. Classes begin on September 5, 2017.

  • Massage Therapy Fundamentals I

Spring coursework includes:                                $1,169.25

  • Hydrotherapy

  • Kinesiology

  • Pathology

  • Massage Therapy Fundamentals II

Summer coursework includes:                              $573.75

  • Business Practices & Ethics
  • Internship in Clinical Setting

 

Admission Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Copy of Driver’s License or photo ID

  • Copy of Social Security Card

  • Copy of High School Diploma or GED

  • Copy of Resume (work experience)
  • Copy of Drug Screen (student's responsibility)

  • Pass Criminal Background Check-provided by HSCE

Immunizations:     

  • Tetanus (Tdap or Td)-must be within last 10 years

  • MMR (if born after 1957, must have 2 shots)
  • Varicella (chicken pox) 2 doses
  • Hepatitis B
  • Meningitis (under 22)
  • (TB) test (negative)-must be within last 1 year

  • Trail Guide to the Body Textbook 5th ed. Andrew Biel

  • Massage Therapist's Guide to Business 1st ed. Laura Allen

Required Supplies:

  • 2 sets of purple scrubs (GRAPE)

  • Closed-toe shoes (walking or running)

  • Two sets twin sheets/pillow cases

  • One light-weight blanket

  • One pillow

  • Two bath towels

  • Four hand towels

Massage tables, chairs, lotions and other supplies will be provided.  If you choose to purchase a personal massage table, it is recommended to wait until after class starts.
