Massage Therapy Courses

MASSAGE THERAPY (MSSG 1009, 1011, 1013, 2014)

 

Massage Therapy can be a rewarding career with flexibility to work in settings such as medical offices, sports clinics, day spas, and resort spas or a home businesses. Our Massage Therapy Program provides over 600 hours of classroom instruction, clinicals and internship. The program is two semesters (Fall/Spring) with classes held in the evenings (T, W, TH) and many weekend days. Instructors: Doris (Dolly) Thomson, Rebekah Powers, and Christina Ramdeo

 

You are invited to attend one of two informational meetings hosted by HSCE on July 14, 2016 or August 11, 2016 from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  These meetings will be held at the F. Marie Hall SimLife Center. (DAVIDSON FAMILY HEALTH CENTER) on the main campus.

 

Registration packets will be available to begin your Enrollment process. Classes begin on August 29, 2016 and end with Graduation the middle of May, 2017.

 

Fall coursework includes:

  • Health & Hygiene

  • Anatomy & Physiology

  • Pathology I

  • Massage Therapy Fundamentals I

Spring coursework includes:

  • Hydrotherapy

  • Kinesiology

  • Business Practices & Ethics

  • Pathology II

  • Massage Therapy Fundamentals II

  • Internship

Personal dedication and commitment to the program will prepare the student for successful completion and preparation to take the State Certification Exam and Licensure.

 

Admission Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Copy of Driver’s License or photo ID

  • Copy of Social Security Card

  • Copy of High School Diploma or GED

  • Copy of Resume (work experience)
  • Copy of CPR Ceritification-within past 2 years
  • Copy of Drug Screen (student's responsibility)

  • Pass Criminal Background Check-provided by HSCE

Immunizations:     

  • Tetanus (Tdap or Td)-must be within last 10 years

  • MMR (if born after 1957, must have 2 shots)
  • Varicella (chicken pox) 2 doses
  • Hepatitis B series-all 3 must be complete prior to registration
  • Meningitis (under 22)
  • (TB) test (negative)-must be within last 1 year

  • Massage Therapist's Guide to Business 1st ed. Laura Allen

Required Supplies:

  • 2 sets of purple scrubs (GRAPE)

  • Closed-toe shoes (walking or running)

  • Two sets twin sheets/pillow cases

  • One light-weight blanket

  • One pillow

  • Two bath towels

  • Four hand towels

Massage tables, chairs, lotions and other supplies will be provided.  If you choose to purchase a personal massage table, it is recommended to wait until after class starts.
