DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE:
Online registration will increase a student’s chances of getting into their favorite class(es). The date for online registration is Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Payment is due at the time of registration, which will ensure your child will be in the class of their choice. Lack of payment will result in child being dropped from course(s).
The date for walk-in registration is Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Continuing Education office located at the Scharbauer Student Center in room 214.
Each Kids' College class is $45 with supply fees that range from $5 to $30. Prices for COM Aquatics, Midland Community Theatre, Sibley Nature Center, classes differ.
Students Grade Level
To be eligible for Kids' College, students must have finished grades 1-6 in school year 2017-2018. No exceptions will be made.
Since the purpose of Kids' College is to provide an enrichment program, proper standards of conduct are necessary to protect the health, safety and well-being of all Kids' College students.
- Behavior that might interfere with the educational process is unacceptable.
- Students will be respectful of students and staff.
- Students will be careful with college equipment, property, and the property of other students.
- Safety of students is our first responsibility. Students MAY NOT GO ANYWHERE on campus without being accompanied by a staff member.
- Parents will be contacted if their child is involved in any unacceptable situations during the day. If you have been contacted due to unacceptable behavior, you will be asked to pick up your child.
- Staff members have the right, at any time, to exclude any child from activities due to failure or inability to follow, as directed, any and all rules and/or policies for participants.
- Student's risk expulsion from the program if:
- The student is caught stealing another person's property,
- Threats of bodily injury,
- Physical contact of any kind.
Kids’ College Coordinators have completed the requirements for Standard First Aid, Adult, Child & Infant CPR, Epi-Auto Injector, and Asthma Inhaler. If you have any concerns regarding your child’s health please visit with the Kids’ College Associate Director at 685-4724. Children with food allergies are advised not to enroll in a cooking class. During Kids' College, if you have an inhaler or Epi pen that you would like to leave in the Kids' College office, please contact the CE office PRIOR to Kids' College at 432-685-4518, AFTER Kids' College has begun, 686-4242.
Schedules and Name Tags
Since registration is online, Kids’ College WILL NOT print and mail class schedules, therefore, please print a copy of your child’s schedule at the time of registration. Please make sure that your child knows their class schedule before attending Kids’ College.
In case of inclement weather, please keep a copy of this schedule so you will know the class and building your child is located.
Children will be given name tags during the first Kids’ College class. Name tags include a list of classes with room numbers and building names. Students are encouraged to wear their name tags for the duration, as this assists the Kids’ College staff.
Students should dress in casual play clothes, with care given to appropriate clothing for special classes. Sandals and flip flops are not allowed on gym floors.
There will be a break between the second and third classes to allow for class changes and an organized “group” refreshment break.
Lost and Found
During Kids' College, all lost and found articles will be located in the Kids’ College office in Portable Building 7A or call 432-686-4242. Kids' College is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Shirts will be given to all students in the 12:40 class on Tuesday of the second week of each Kids’ College session. If you are not enrolled in a 12:40 class, please pick up a t-shirt at the Kids’ College office on the second Wednesday of classes. Kids’ College office is located in Portable Building 7A or call 432-686-4242. T-shirts cannot be replaced if students lose them.
We encourage all students to wear their t-shirt on the last day of classes in each session. If you are enrolled in all Kids’ College sessions, you will receive one t-shirt during the first session.
Fees will be refunded ONLY if a student withdraws by noon on the Thursday preceding the first day of the session (NO EXCEPTIONS). A $10 processing fee will be assessed. All "Request for Refund" forms may be completed in person at the Continuing Education office located in the Scharbauer Student Center, room 214 or by faxing to (432) 685-6412 or by going online to www.midland.edu/kidscollege and going to Forms. Refunds take up to 30 days to process.
