Air Emission Analysis for TCEQ and EPA Compliance
The objective of this course is to provide instruction on the use of TCEQ and EPA oil and gas facility air emission calculators to meet TCEQ and EPA compliance and reporting obligations.
Anticipated Course Outcomes
Upon completion of and active participation in this one-day course, attendees should understand the rationale, assumptions, scientific bases, data requirements and use of TCEQ and EPA oil and gas air emission calculators. Attendees will leave the class with a working knowledge of how to configure and run these Excel-based calculators, which are publicly available and can be downloaded from the internet. [NOTE: These Excel calculators require Windows Excel. They do not run on Mac or other platforms.]
This one-day course (approx. 8 hrs. instruction time) will provide an introduction and overview of the objectives and general process of estimating air emissions for state (Texas) and federal (EPA) compliance requirements. We will step through the TCEQ and EPA Excel calculators, using these to illustrate the course topics and to produce useable and defensible emissions estimates. Students are encouraged (but not required) to bring a laptop running Microsoft Windows and Excel for Windows. Current versions of the calculators will be provided to each student on a thumb drive.
Peter Galusky has worked as an environmental engineer for over twenty-five years in a wide range of progressively responsible positions. He has provided environmental engineering analysis and regulatory compliance services in support of programs and projects in air compliance, applied hydrology, environmental geology, ecological permitting and public relations. His work over the last fifteen years has focused on environmental compliance engineering in the oil and gas industry, encompassing air compliance, water resource management and environmental engineering. Peter founded Texerra, an environmental engineering consulting practice, in Midland in 2005 and serves as its principal environmental engineer.
